Here is a small compilation I made of various recent successful films, one aspect they all have in common is drama, they are very dramatic and all have a profound clear story line, it is important that our film is constructed clearly and has a definite three part structure with a beginning, middle and an end, so that the audience can follow it attentively without confusion. 
It is good that you are looking at a variety of films but it would be nice to see more detail - concentrating on a few but in more depth
